Local Alert: Va. governor commutes death sentence for man who was to be executed next week

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has commuted the death sentence of Ivan Teleguz, 38, who was set to be executed Tuesday in the 2001 murder-for-hire of his former girlfriend. McAuliffe said Thursday that while he believes Teleguz is guilty, the sentencing phase of his trial was "terribly flawed and unfair." Teleguz will serve life in prison without parole.
